Nutrition

Diet and nutrition are often the missing link in an otherwise comprehensive training program. As seen in the hierarchy of development pyramid, the base of development is nutrition. The logical flow begins at molecular foundations (nutrition), continues on with cardiovascular sufficiency (metabolic conditioning), body control (gymnastics), external object control (weightlifting), and ends with the ultimate mastery of application (sport). Poor nutrition will cause all levels of development to suffer.

HOW TO ACHIEVE PROPER NUTRITION?

At Anchor we ascribe to both The Paleo and The Zone diet approach to achieve proper nutrition.

There are two aspects to your diet: quality and quantity. While the quantity of food you eat (number of calories) affects your weight, hormones, and performance, the quality of food you eat has a tremendous impact on your overall health. Combining quality foods in the right quantities will produce optimum health and performance.

Paleo relates to the quality of food and is a good starting point for eating “clean” while finding your body’s natural healthy weight. We will periodically have 30-45 day Paleo challenges that are used to educate our members about nutrition, create competition through camaraderie, and generally achieve greater health.

Zone is the next step and relates not only to quality, but quantity. Additional discipline is required for tracking your food intake and balancing your protein, good carbs, fats. The Zone is ideal for reaching an elite level of athleticism and overall health.
