Nutrition shouldn’t be an option in your daily life. Just as we make the decision to drive one way to work over another, as we choose to come to the gym for the daily WOD, our decision in our eating should be to put only natural, high quality foods in our system. Just as a race car team would only put top fuel in their car, as CrossFit athletes we should only be putting top fuel in our bodies as well.
CrossFit founder Greg Glassman lays out the CrossFit theory on nutrition, “Combine the CrossFit training methodology with a diet of meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar.” Manage not only the quality but the quantity of food you consume.
As the CrossFit nutrition pyramid indicates nutrition is the base at the molecular level, the foundation of everything else we do. “Each level builds on the level below it,” “If your nutrition sucks, these things will not be where they could be if it were more solid.” explains Nicole Carroll, director of certification.
